In this talk, we will give an introduction to modular invariant theory of finite groups which has been an active topic related closely to commutative algebras, algebraic groups and algebraic geometry. We will present many counterexamples that illustrate almost all beautiful results in nonmodular invariant theory can not be generalized to the modular cases.
